Hey guys! Just wanted to make a short post about what I've been up to at work this week! With summer and spring coming we are getting more and more new pieces at the store every day. From floral to festival wear, each box that comes in just holds more and more goodies. This week I merchandised a table for the more boho section of the store and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! This "shop" is all about the summer boho vibe, focusing on neutrals with pops of richer colors like rust. To add depth to the table placed a few house wear items to break up the clothing! Last Friday Night

Hi friends! I know I said I was going to be better about posting more, and I really haven't. Life just gets so crazy sometimes ya know? But I really do want to get into the swing of blogging frequently, more for myself than for any other reason. I did get my camera though, so hopefully its arrival with spark some new creativity in me and light the fire that I need! 

Last Friday I went to my friends birthday party in downtown Ventura. It's been really warm where I live, so even though it's mid-February I'm able to sport mini dresses sans cardigan and be completely fine! I'm more a fan of cold weather, but I do love myself a good sundress.

I got this dress a few weeks ago and I really love the print and the color choices. I think grey is a nice balance for a warmer day for people who don't like to stray to far into pastel world but still want a softer look. Grey also is enhanced by black accessories, meaning you can get use out of your winter wear during the transition months! The very oversized cut of this dress was right up my alley, but it does ebb on the short side. Like - don't drop anything you'll need to pick up short side. Being my klutzy self and knowing the possibility of me eating it was high, I added lace trim bike shorts (not pictured) underneath to give myself a little safety blanket. 

For the accessories, I broke out one of my favorite hats that I don't get to wear to often, my newest chunky black shoes, and some simple silver jewelry. When adding pieces like a statement shoe or hat (or both!) I like to choose a little lighter jewelry so there isn't too much going on. 

I like this outfit because I think it provides a girly look with a funky edge, making it perfect for a casual friday night celebration! All that was necessary was my trusty vintage levi trucker jacket (not pictured) once the temperature decided to drop a bit! Comfy and practical with the safety of shorts, I was able to move about and still feel 100% about my outfit choice!

Spring has sprung at store 41

So yesterday at work I got to do my favorite part of my job - dressing the mannequins! I've been doing more of this since I got promoted a few months ago and I'm hoping with lots of practice my merchandising skills will grow. This "shop" or stylized part of the women's section is meant for the spring time girly girl. Working with lots of lace, floral prints, and short hemlines always gets me going, so it was a very rewarding task on a stressful day. 

Because most of our customers are college students, I wanted to style looks that would be cute and comfortable for a long school day. I tried to add a slightly different personality to each outfit by adding things like flatforms, leather, and strappy bralettes. My goal was to make each outfit unique from the others while still featuring the stores top trends and styles. I did this all very quickly but I was pretty happy with the result!

Wrong side of the tracks?

Hi friends! I feel like it's been so long since I've been able to post anything, whether it be finding the time to actually write something or just wrangling someone to take my outfit pictures (really need to get a tripod… and figure out the self timer…) Thankfully for me and for the livelihood of my blog, my good friend Des stepped in to help me get some awesome shots! 

Des and I took a stroll into my backyard, which just so happens to be a train station. We walked around for a bit with Des working her magic and I think we were both pleased with the results! :)

Going for a sort of Wednesday Adams meets Lolita meets Stevie Nicks, I opted for pairing my extremely girly top with a plain silhouette on the bottom, adding edge with my accessories. To further balance out the black and bondage-esque vibes I plopped my hair up into one of my favorite styles - the milkmaid braids.

My favorite part of this look is most DEFINITELY the shoes! I've been eyeing these beauties for months and they've just been sitting in my cart online. Thankfully some kind soul returned them to my store a few days before I got paid! Lucky me!

Blissed Out

Hello friends! School just started and I've been really busy lately trying to work out my schedule between school, two jobs, and other things that life throws at me. With that said, this new year has been starting off fantastically, and for the first time in a long time I feel genuinely happy :)  

But enough about me, you're here for the outfits. Yesterday was my first training day at my yoga studio to be a desk yogi! Having this amazing opportunity to be able to work for my yoga classes (which are very expensive) I was feeling super happy and grateful! My mood tends to come out in my outfits, and yesterday was no exception. I chose one of my favorites, a floral daisy print dress that is both comfy for a long day and versatile. Since I was going to be out of the house all day, I added a shawl for the cooler weather in the morning and evening. Keeping it simple with the shoes (unusual for me) I slipped on my one pair of boho sandals. 

Big thanks to my roommate for waking up to take these!

Since this outfit was very simple, I wanted to add some little touches to make it feel more unique. By adding some jewelry and a fun hair-do, I think I accomplished my goal!

Hair - I think this might be hard to see, but I covered my ponytail holder with a chunk of braided hair so the ponytail holder was hidden. It was really easy and I got a lot of compliments :)

Feeling so incredibly blessed to be spending the week in one of my favorite places in the United States, Telluride Colorado. Looking like some sort of mountain calendar backdrop, this tiny mountain town is full of great skiing, great food, great people, AND great shopping. After a very tumultuous year, it's been so lovely to relax in a place so different from home. 

Being from Southern California and now living in a beach town, winter fashion is not my usual M.O. But being up for a styling challenge, I brought all of my possible layer able winter clothes and biggest fluffiest coats! (Packing lightly… also not my M.O…) 

This day was particularly cold so I decided to utilize layers and different textures of clothing to provide some extra warmth.

• Mock Neck Tank Top (Worn under long sleeve) - Urban Outfitters 
• Asymmetrical Long Sleeve Tee - Foreign Exchange 
• Floral Skinny Jeans - H&M 

 For this outfit I decided to utilize one of my favorite basic pieces, the mock neck tank top. Being a turtle neck without feeling like it's choking me to death, my go to tank provided me both with a base layer, some neck warmth, and the polished look of a black turtle neck silloutte. 

Over that I snatched a heather grey asymmetrical long sleeve with a slight v-neck from my little sister, showing off the mock neck and pulling the grey touches in the floral print of my pants out. The pants- a very cute pair of floral skinnys from H&M, caught my eye at the day after Christmas Sale. I'm usually very picky about pants but I can never resist a floral print or a one digit price tag. ($7!!!!!) Fair warning though, H&M pants run EXTREMELY small! Like… children's sizing small. 

Finally to top off the look and keep me extra cozy, I threw on my new Silence and Noise Faux Fur coat that I got at a sale at work. I really like this coat because it isn't cut like the traditional fur coat, but puts off more of a structured blazer vibe. Being quilted on the inside, it (mostly) did the trick for keeping me warm and toasty!

New Year New Project

So as I stated in my previous intro post, I'm very new to this so bear with me. Although this is new and scary for a little shy soul like myself, I am so excited to start this documentation of different pieces I put together to express myself. 

Anyways, back to the clothes. A few weeks ago, my very talented friend Desiree and I took a walk near my house to snap a few shots of this outfit I put together for a 5 hour shift I had later at work and hanging out with some friends that night. I work at Urban Outfitters, so I can wear basically whatever I want to work. Lucky me!

It was a bit chilly that day (as chilly as it gets in Southern California) so I threw on an army jacket on top of my ensemble. The great thing about army jackets is that they work with nearly everything and the neutral color meshes well with most other hues. I love pairing a more utilitarian piece with other girly items to toughen up the look a bit. If I don't go for my military jacket, you can almost always find me in a chunky shoe or boot.(Doc Martens are my personal favorite) I love having really tough shoes on with my more feminine peices to remind people not to mess with me. ;) 

Being a big fan of accessories, and sometimes a victim of overaccecorization, I truly believe that little touches can make an outfit that much more special! For this casual outfit, I added thigh high socks for a bit of warmth and coverage, black and silver rings, a cute beret I picked up at Forever 21 (I'm a francophile, sue me) And my ever trusty vintage Dooney and Bourke Satchel and Ray Ban Wayfarers! Always leaning toward a 90's vibe, I finished the look with my favorite Unif Don't Worry Be Happy Boots which always put a smile on my face.
