Been a minute...

I'm baaaack! It's really been a while since I've posted (while being a generous word) and I've decided to get back into it. With the overwhelming transition of finishing my third year of college, quitting my job, studying in the UK for the summer, and now living in Paris, there wasn't much time for writing. But since my life is so amazingly wonderful right now I knew I had to get back into the swing of documenting my exploits- prompting me to start blogging again.

For the few of you that read this that aren't my close friends(bless you), let me fill you in. I am currently in Paris studying abroad. I hope that many adventures are about to come my way and I will be able to document them to my massive fan base (ha ha ha...)

But until then I say Au revoir and I wish you all a beautiful end of the summer!

Oh, and I got bangs! Thought I'd change it up a bit ya feel

Sunshine and Sunflowers

If you haven't caught on yet, my absolute favorite flowers are sunflowers. Bright, big, and happy, they are my favorite gift to receive, my favorite plant to fill my apartment with, and my absolute favorite print for anything I buy. One of my favorite items in my entire wardrobe is my American Apparel sunflower print high waisted shorts. I've had them for about 3 years, and though I wear them frequently they have stayed in great shape and never fail to give me a sunny outlook on the day.
While these shorts can be styled in many ways, I find myself gravitating towards them when I want to be comfy but still make a statement. I think that American Apparel has a great selection of printed shorts that let you do just that, ranging from sunflowers to watermelons to daises, perfect for the coming summer season.
On this particularly warm and sunny day, I styled the sunflower shorts with a plain cropped tank in a pretty cornflower blue and my trusty converse. Wanting to keep the effort to a minimum, I put my hair up in two baby buns at the base of my neck, keeping my hair out of my face and out of my way. I often wear outfits like these on lazy school and work days, or on the weekend before I prepare a more extravagant outfit for that night.

My friend Desiree took these cutie photos, and spotted the perfect classic car to take them by! As always, thank you for reading and I hope the rest of your week is just as sunny as my shorts :) XOXO - Mandee

Sunday Funday

I think I know I'm getting old because Sunday's are starting to become one of my favorite days of the week. Even if I have work or homework, I always manage to fit one relaxing thing in even if its just an hour and a half yoga class or a trip to the beach.
This Sunday was spent at my parents house in Southern California eating all the yummy food I could stuff in my mouth, playing with my pups, and floating around in on my new toy.
My sister took this quick picture (ignore the bruise) wearing my favorite bikini bottoms and my new top that I got a few days ago.
Outfit Details:
Underwire bikini top - Urban Outfitters
High waisted bikini bottoms - American Apparel
Pizza Floatie - Urban Outfitters

All black and simple, this suit is a good pick for days where I'm not feeling 100%. Plus, black looks good on everybody! I hope you all had a great weekend and I'm planning on being back soon with another post, so stay tuned! :)

Pretty in Pink

Hey guys!!! Long time no… see? Life has gotten pretty crazy lately, and I've really let this project fall by the wayside. But don't get too sad, I'm baaaaaaack with more idea's than ever!
Thanks to some amazing creative collaboration with my close friend Des, I was able to get some long overdue outfit pictures that I think capture the essence of spring pretty well, if I do say so myself. If you have a spare second you should definitely check out her work at http://deadstxle.com :)

For me, spring and warm weather screams for one thing: COLOR. Any excuse to wear my favorite pink pieces is a beautiful thing indeed, and I rushed at the chance to put these together in a bright blushy ensemble. Pink just makes me feel so… pretty! Like I can feel the essence of Molly Ringwald pulsing through my veins, encouraging me to continue the day with as much 80's attitude as possible. While this outfit is loud to say the least, I do think it would be fun to wear for a girls day out or any day that required a little visible pick me up.

To break up the outfit and give it definition I decided to mix prints. Because both the stripes and the lip prints are small, I think they compliment each other nicely and correspond while still sending out a fun and funky vibe.

Since I was already going all out girly-girl with the rosy hue, I completed the outfit with some sparkly heeled jellies and heart shaped sunglasses a-la-Lana Del Rey.

Outfit Details:
Crop Top: American Apparel
Skirt: Goodwill
Shoes: Juju Jellies
Sunglasses: Wildfox

I hope you are all enjoying the warm spring weather as much as I am and your outfits are reflecting it! Thank you so much for reading and taking the time out of your busy day to support me! It means the world :)

Mom butt on point

Hey friends! So lately I've been really busy and I have found myself going for quick and easy outfits. As the school quarter comes to an end, sometimes it's hard to look cute while balancing school, work, and anything else that may come up. My solution? The mom jean. Some of you may be thinking that I'm crazy, and under the impression that the mom jean is the least attractive thing you could grab in your closet. And while you're entitled to your opinion, I'm here to tell you how different types of mom jeans can be versatile, ranging from comfy to cute to sexy. Yes, sexy.
Over the past few years I have collected an array of mom jeans. Whenever I find a solid pair in a thrift store I just can't seem to help myself. Not someone to really wear normal jeans most of the time, my mom jeans are like my substitute for sweatpants. Comfy, yet trendy. What's not to love?

the collection!

Since some of you might be doubting my claim that mom jeans could indeed be sexy, I thought I'd start out with these bad boys. Fitting tight in all the right places, this pair definitely put a spring in my step. My go-to look when traveling, I always find myself putting these in my suitcase first. They can be casual or a little more daring, and I cannot contain my love. Want to feel like Rachel from Friends? Pick up a pair for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

What says mom more than pleats? These guys always make me feel like Aunt Becky from Full House, something I have no qualms about. Saggy in the backside and tapered at the ankle, this might not be my most generically "sexy" pair, but boy do I love them. By adding a cropped sweater tank, jellies, and a big scrunchie I can take it straight back to the 90s. (Still looking for my Uncle Jesse though…)

The best thing about thrifting is the ability to do DIY without worrying about a piece of expensive clothing. Buying these high waisted beauties for just $3, I was free to take the tweezers to them and do as I wished. Adding a destructed effect to these light wash jeans adds a little definition perfectly fitting for warmer days.

Mom or Dad? This pair could arguably be way to big for me. Do I care? Not really. When I'm feeling REALLY lazy and just want to snuggle up in my bed, these are the pair I reach for. Large and in charge, my younger sister did indeed ask if I was wearing my dad's pants. Even with her sassy commentary, I love these pants, and I think they look very cute with a graphic tee and a simple pair of converse high tops!

I picked up this last pair while thrifting with my aunt. I love the grungy acid wash, and I think this pair is a really nice addition to my wardrobe. While most acid wash jeans I find are skinny, this pair is super loose and baggy. To add some shape to these, I usually wear a fitted crop top and tie a flannel around my waist. Viola! A comfy yet edgy look.

As always, thanks for reading!

Hey guys! Just wanted to make a short post about what I've been up to at work this week! With summer and spring coming we are getting more and more new pieces at the store every day. From floral to festival wear, each box that comes in just holds more and more goodies. This week I merchandised a table for the more boho section of the store and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! This "shop" is all about the summer boho vibe, focusing on neutrals with pops of richer colors like rust. To add depth to the table placed a few house wear items to break up the clothing! As always, you're the best for looking! -xoxo Mandee

Last Friday Night

Hi friends! I know I said I was going to be better about posting more, and I really haven't. Life just gets so crazy sometimes ya know? But I really do want to get into the swing of blogging frequently, more for myself than for any other reason. I did get my camera though, so hopefully its arrival with spark some new creativity in me and light the fire that I need!
Last Friday I went to my friends birthday party in downtown Ventura. It's been really warm where I live, so even though it's mid-February I'm able to sport mini dresses sans cardigan and be completely fine! I'm more a fan of cold weather, but I do love myself a good sundress.

Outfit Details:
Dress - Urban Outfitters
Hat - Urban Outfitters
Shoes - Vagabond
Glasses - Ray Ban

I got this dress a few weeks ago and I really love the print and the color choices. I think grey is a nice balance for a warmer day for people who don't like to stray to far into pastel world but still want a softer look. Grey also is enhanced by black accessories, meaning you can get use out of your winter wear during the transition months! The very oversized cut of this dress was right up my alley, but it does ebb on the short side. Like - don't drop anything you'll need to pick up short side. Being my klutzy self and knowing the possibility of me eating it was high, I added lace trim bike shorts (not pictured) underneath to give myself a little safety blanket.
For the accessories, I broke out one of my favorite hats that I don't get to wear to often, my newest chunky black shoes, and some simple silver jewelry. When adding pieces like a statement shoe or hat (or both!) I like to choose a little lighter jewelry so there isn't too much going on.
I like this outfit because I think it provides a girly look with a funky edge, making it perfect for a casual friday night celebration! All that was necessary was my trusty vintage levi trucker jacket (not pictured) once the temperature decided to drop a bit! Comfy and practical with the safety of shorts, I was able to move about and still feel 100% about my outfit choice!

Thank you so much for reading! As always, seeing people look at my page brightens my day, so please keep returning. I promise I'm trying to get better! :)
